A Reel Hook That Is Not a Greeting
A reel hook is the point, said first. A greeting introduces you to people who have not decided to stay.

A reel hook that is not a greeting starts with the result, the refusal, or the mistake. "Hey, welcome back" tells a stranger nothing they can use. They did not come from your last video. They came from a swipe. The first line has to be worth the second line.
Steal from the last line
Write the reel, then move the sharpest sentence to the front. Most drafts bury it. The greeting was only there because it felt polite. The feed is not a room you entered.
Make it a claim, a question, or a picture
"Your offer is too vague" is a claim. "What did you charge?" is a question. A close-up of a crossed-out price is a picture. All three can open. "Hi, I'm Alex" cannot.
Then continue, do not restart
After the hook, prove it. Do not say "so today we will talk about" as if the hook was a trailer. The hook is sentence one of the same paragraph.
A worked example
Wrong open: "Hey guys, quick tip." Right open: "Stop writing three prices." Next beat: one price on a card. The name of the shop is in the caption.
Before you post
- The first words are not a hello.
- The second beat proves the first.
- Your name is not required to understand the reel.
Where Scro fits
Scro puts that opening line on screen as the title when text is on. You approve it as a still before the rest of the reel moves.
Open on the point. Finished samples are on the examples page.
