Do Cartoon Reels Need an AI Label

Cartoon reels are not the same as photoreal video. Instagram's examples say a cartoon-style video does not need the realistic-AI label. A realistic voice still can.

Do Cartoon Reels Need an AI Label

Cartoon reels do not automatically need Instagram's realistic-AI label. Instagram's own examples say a cartoon-style video is not in the set of photoreal clips you must label, and images are treated differently from realistic video. If the same cartoon reel uses a realistic synthetic voice, that audio can still fall under the realistic-audio rule. Label the voice when it sounds like a real person.

Look at the picture first

A doodle or a paper cutout does not look like a filmed human. That is the cartoon case. A photoreal host is not cartoon just because you prompted it.

Then look at the voice

A clearly synthetic beep is not a realistic voice. A clone of a real cadence is. The picture being drawn does not cancel a realistic voice.

The profile is separate

An account whose face is a photoreal AI person should use the AI-generated profile label. A cartoon mascot account is not that profile.

A worked example

A whiteboard reel with your own recorded voice: no realistic-AI video label required for the doodle. The same drawings with a realistic cloned voice: label the audio. A photoreal host: label the reel and the profile.

Before you post

  • You separated cartoon from photoreal.
  • A realistic clone is labeled even on a doodle.
  • A photoreal profile is labeled as a profile.

Where Scro fits

Scro can make the cartoon path or the photoreal host. Use the cartoon explainer when you want drawings. Use the talking-head when you want a person, and label that upload.

Match the label to the look. Finished samples are on the examples page.
